From Ada to Nashville

Shelton moved to Nashville at 17 to chase songwriting. His debut single “Austin”, a story told through answering-machine messages, spent weeks at No. 1 in 2001 and made him a star on his first try.

Traditional roots, modern hits

His early records leaned on ’90s-style storytelling: “Ol’ Red”, “Some Beach”, “The Baby”. In the 2010s he moved toward bigger, more polished production with hits like “Honey Bee”, “God Gave Me You” and “Boys ‘Round Here”.

The Voice and beyond

As a coach on The Voice from 2011 to 2023, he introduced country music to millions of TV viewers and won more seasons than any other coach. [VERIFY: number of wins]
